Joe McFate
Design Director
For over eighteen years, Joe McFate has served as the Design Director for Bob Mackie. His talent, creative vision, and keen eye for color, scale, and elegance has made him an indispensable part of the Bob Mackie Team. Along with Bob, he frequently appears on QVC featuring the Bob Mackie Wearable Art collection.
Directly involved in every detail of the design process, Joe works closely with Mr. Mackie to develop collections for QVC, KAS Rugs, Bob Mackie Home, fragrance, and special edition accessories.
Prior to his role as Design Director, Joe was Artistic Director of the Gorilla Theatre for two award-winning seasons and designed 33 productions for the Merry Go Round Playhouse in Auburn, NY over a fourteen-year period. His Broadway credits as Associate Costume Designer, include “Waiting In The Wings” by Noel Coward, starring Lauren Bacall and Rosemary Harris; “Sacrilege”, starring Ellen Burstyn, "The Herbal Bed," by Peter Whelan; "If You Ever Leave Me...," starring Joe Bologna and Renee Taylor and the Broadway-bound musical, "Catch Me If You Can.” He also worked on the long-running Off-Broadway spoof “Forbidden Broadway," with the legendary designer Alvin Colt.
Joe has worked internationally with stars including, Cher, Carol Burnett, Tina Turner, P!NK, Diana Ross, Ann-Margret, Bernadette Peters, Anjelica Huston, Mitzi Gaynor, and Liza Minelli.
